It all depends on your horse’s condition. I usually suggest weekly sessions for horses who are recovering or on stall rest, bi-weekly sessions for chronic pain and rehabilitation, and monthly sessions for maintenance.
I cannot diagnose or treat injuries or diseases. Massage and bodywork are for promoting self-healing of the body. I would love to help your horses recover in addition to their regular treatment as recommended by your veterinarian.
The muscles of the problem area of the body may be compensating for an underlying issue. A full body massage promotes the circulation of blood and fluids throughout your horse’s body, helping to eliminate stagnation of body fluid and toxins and promote balance.
Before the session, please feed your horse if the session time is right before feeding time. Your horse’s body needs to be dry and free of mud and dust.
After the session, please hand walk or turn out your horse to condition the body. Light riding (walking and small amount of trotting) and groundwork should be OK a couple of hours after the session. Please remember to make sure that your horse is hydrated.
